Co-founder, CEO and Yoga Teacher
Hethal Mohun is the co-founder and CEO of Tamarind Leaf Yoga and Wellness (TLYW), a tech-enabled wellness start-up established in 2016. She oversees strategic direction, marketing and product development. Together with her co-founder and husband, she creates personalized, preventive and curative programs, which utilize the technology of Yoga and Ayurveda to redesign lifestyle, diet and fitness routines for optimal health. These programs are delivered online and/or in-person to adults and children.
She also co-manages the social mission of TLYW, which is aligned with the SDG of Good Health and Well-being. She launched a national event, Know Yourself Yogotsav, in Mauritius in 2019; the aim was to enable free access to yoga and meditation classes so that residents across different geographical locations can experience the benefits first-hand. She also co-hosted a national radio show for 1.5 years to shed light on the sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda, and promote their application in the improvement of health and wellness.
Hethal has studied with the best in the fields of holistic health and healing. She is the first Mauritian to have trained under the direct guidance of Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, Paramacharya of the Bihar School of Yoga (India), and recipient of India’s prestigious Padma Bhushan award. Hethal was recognized by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati as a valued Yoga Propagator in 2018. She is also the only Mauritian to have directly studied with Dr Pankaj Naram, world-renowned master healer, for a University Certificate in the Ancient Traditions of Healing at the Steinbeis University (Berlin, 2019).
Hethal has broken through many glass ceilings to become the first woman entrepreneur in her family. Following academic excellence, she was selected as a national Laureate and awarded a state scholarship to study at any British university. She completed her degree in Media, Communications & English with the highest distinction at the Canterbury Christ Church University, UK. She then moved on to establish a successful banking career in Mauritius and Toronto. Working closely with American Express (New York), MasterCard (South Africa) and Visa International, she has strategically planned, developed and launched first-to-market products including an e-commerce gateway, Platinum and Corporate credit cards, loyalty programs, and security protocols for online payments.
A global citizen and traveler at heart, Hethal currently resides in Mauritius. Her life and work are exclusively dedicated to her teachers, who have initiated her in Yoga and Ayurveda.
