In line with our yogic lineage anchored at the Bihar School of Yoga by our revered Guruji, Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, we took yoga off the mat in December 2022 to help our students experience Karma Yoga through the “Serve Love Give” Initiative. Karma Yoga means selfless action without attachment to the fruit of the action, and the “Serve Love Give” project was aimed at creating pure moments of Christmas joy for the children of the Shelter for Women and Children in Distress based in Curepipe.
The whole community of Tamarind Leaf Yoga & Wellness rose up to the challenge by making generous cash donations, providing bulk essential hygiene items, as well as selecting and beautifully wrapping Christmas gifts for 30 children aged 4 to 23 years. We also organised a tea party for the children on 24 December, in which many of our students participated as members of their family, albeit for a short period of time. At the event, all our students, kids and adults alike, rolled up their sleeves and lifted boxes of gifts, placed gift bags in their right places and served food. Of course, we also ended the party with playful yoga with all the children of the Shelter.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of our students who contributed to the Serve Love Give initiative. You have lived up to our teachings, and made us proud and humble at the same time. This is just the beginning. Let’s start the New Year 2023 with the firm resolve of “Being Good and Doing Good.” We start on the yoga mat and through our attempts at self-improvement, let us create a better, more harmonious, inclusive and compassionate world.
We wish all of you a happy New Year 2023. Enjoy this auspicious time with your family, and see you on the yoga mat as from Sat 7 Jan!
